First formed in 1954, Mason & King are well-known for their diverse expertise across component fabrication, product design development, and finishing and assembly.

With customers operating in a myriad of industries and sectors, Mason & King apply regularly apply their vast experience and knowledge to take on both bespoke and complex projects, as well as repeat batch high-volume orders.

Companies who utilise Mason & King’s services benefit from their complete-approach to their work, going from initial design all the way through to manufacturing, finishing, assembling and delivery.

Most recently, Mason & King have invested in new machinery which will only help the company to further the top-level services they offer to customers.

Andrew Mason, Managing Director of Mason & King, explains how the newly acquired brake press, a machine used for folding metal parts, will help them to further the work they’ve been offering for years.

“It’s part of our plan for growth,” states Mr. Mason, “but it’s also an example of our initiative to keep up with state-of-the art kit and remain competitive.”

In the last year, the company has purchased three new machines to replace older equipment.

The MCV-720 Dahlih Vertical Machining Centre was brought in to replace an older machine, and allows Mason & King to offer a one-stop service from laser cutting through fabrication to paint, assembly and delivery.

The Trumpf TruBend 3000 is a 5 axis brake press with an open bending area of 3 meters and a press tonnage of 1000kn.

Finally, the Trumpf Trumatic 1000 Fiber is a laser & punch machine, purchased to replace a previous Trumpf machine to ensure that the company keeps up with the latest demands in laser cutting and punching speeds.

Aside from the acquisition of new equipment, Mason & King are also busy developing other aspects of their business.

One such aspect is the training and development of their staff. Mason & King place a lot of value in ensuring that their skilled workers are always maintaining their levels of expertise throughout every stage of the process.

“There doesn’t seem to be that much available on the market in terms of outside talent, so we offer effective in-house training to develop our team’s skills,” states Mr. Mason.

Another example of how the company is keeping up with the industry can be seen in their utilisation of automation. Mr. Mason explains this by stating:

“We’re working towards offering a larger batch process, so we’re looking at the automated robots model, meaning more time and energy can be put into the actual tooling processes.”

As they continue to progress forward, Mason & King will be upgrading to equipment which allows for greater implementation of automation technology.

“We’ve got 14 robot welding cells currently,” states Mr. Mason. “This means we have a lot more room for automation, which varies our capacities greatly, meaning cost is reduced and fewer skilled people are required. It also means we can remain competitive.”
